Dandeli was one of our choices for a long time but somehow we were always on the edge. After a lot of discussion, we thought to visit Dandeli for the first time. Last but not the least we got a four day break in March and decided to go there.
We did not know much about Dandeli, we only knew that it has forests and the Kali river. We did not carry many clothes and accessories with us because we anticipated that we would spend most of our time at the Dandeli swimming pool resorts. Perhaps we would go for a safari if we wished.
The drive was long and the dry forests we came across did not look like there was much bird life. However, when we arrived at Dandeli, this place really stunned us. We could have spent days more exploring and doing other activities that we had not even thought of. As it was mentioned before, our trip became filled with many shocking surprises and excitement. Let’s have a look at our compelte trip to Dandeli.
We reached Dandeli in the afternoon. The place was really nice because a lot of trees were there. The Dandeli Resorts room was cozy and our view was breathtaking because of the forest outside the window. It was quite astonishing to find out that there were so many things that could be done here.
From the staff we got information about rafting, kayaking, and night walks in the jungle. We didn’t expect all that! The best part was when we first saw the Kali River. It was right behind the resort, and it looked so big and elegant. We couldn’t wait to get closer to it. The sound of the water made us feel like our adventure had really begun.
We did not intend on kayaking, but the river was amazing so we said why not? The Dandeli Resorts had kayaks and one of the staff took us through how they could be used. Initially, it was sort of scary to be on the river. But once we had mastered it, it was really fun!
We sailed on and have a view of the forest from the water. We saw some cool birds and even a monkey in the trees. The water was sometimes calm and sometimes fast. It was exciting when we hit the small rapids. We were out there for about two hours, and by the end, our arms were tired but we felt great.
The only disadvantage is that for the safari you have to wake up very early in the morning, for example at 5 in the morning. All of us were sleepy in the jeep. We did not notice much in the beginning, but things began to heat up. We saw some deer, and even a family of elephants far away.
The funny part was when our guide got super excited about a “rare bird” that turned out to be just a chicken that had wandered from a nearby village! We all laughed so hard. Even though we didn’t see any tigers, it was cool to be in the wild and see animals in their home.
The night walk in the Dandeli jungle resort was both scary and amazing. We went out with a guide after dinner. It was so dark! We had flashlights, but still, every sound made us jump. We saw some cool stuff, like glowing mushrooms and a sleeping bird.
The guide showed us how to spot animals by their eyes shining in the light. We saw some deer and an owl. The best part was when we turned off all the lights and looked at the stars. There were so many, and we could even see the Milky Way! It was like a whole different world at night
The natural jacuzzi was super relaxing. It’s this part of the river where the water flows over rocks and makes little pools. We sat in the water and let it splash over us. It felt like a massage!
After that, we went to see Supa Dam. It’s huge! We learned that it helps make electricity. On the way back, our car got a flat tire. While we waited for help, we played cricket with some local kids who were passing by. It was a fun surprise in our day.
We tried some yummy local food at Dandeli Resort. There was this spicy chicken dish and a sweet rice cake that were really good. We even learned how to eat with our hands the proper way.
One morning, we went birdwatching. We saw lots of birds, but the coolest was the hornbill. It’s a big bird with a funny-looking beak. We met some local people who told us stories about the forest and showed us how they make honey. It was nice to learn about how people live here.
Our trip to Dandeli was full of surprises. We did so many fun things we didn’t expect. The forests, the river, and the people made it special. If you want a mix of adventure and relaxation, Dandeli is great.
